5-Day Mount Moroto Hike, Karamoja Culture & Kidepo Safari
Itinerary:
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Moroto
Early morning departure from Kampala. And you will Drive through eastern Uganda via Mbale, Soroti have Lunch en route and Continue to Moroto in the Karamoja region.
Afternoon Activities
You will Visit a Karimojong Manyatta (traditional homestead).
Have Cultural interaction with elders and warriors and Experience traditional dances, beadwork, and storytelling.
Overnight stay at the guest lodge
Day 2: Hike Mount Moroto – Forest Trail
Mount Moroto rises to about 3,082 meters and is the highest mountain in Karamoja with several peaks such as Sokodek and Imagit.
You will have Early breakfast then be Transferred to Tapac trailhead and begin guided hike with local Tepeth guides.
Hiking through Montane Forest, Springs and waterfalls, Birdlife and monkeys and Scenic views over Karamoja plains
This will take you 5–7 hours trek.
After the hike you will Arrive at campsite or descend depending on hiking pace.
Camp or return to lodge.
Day 3: Cultural Experience & Transfer to Kidepo
After Morning breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and then head out for a cultural immersion.
You will visit Tepeth communities living on the slopes of the mountain, Learn about pastoral life of the Karimojong people.
- Optional:
- Traditional cattle kraal visit
- Local market in Moroto
- Bead-making experience.
After lunch drive north to Kidepo Valley National Park (4–5 hours).
Evening relaxation at the lodge on arrival
Overnight at the guest lodge
Day 4: Game Drives in Kidepo Valley National Park
Full day wildlife safari.
You will go for a Morning Game Drive and Explore Narus Valley, famous for wildlife.
Possible sightings Lions, Elephants, Buffalo, Zebras, Giraffes, Cheetahs, Ostriches
Afternoon
- Optional activities:
- Visit Karamojong communities near the park
- Guided nature walks
- Sundowner overlooking the savannah.

Day 5: Return Journey
After Early breakfast, you will check out of the hotel/guest lodge have an Optional short morning game drive and then Drive back via Kitgum- Gulu
Arrival in Kampala in the evening and transferred to the airport!
