6 Days Safari In Lake Mburo National Park, Cultural Tourism And Gorilla Tracking

TOUR OVERVIEW

A Safari in Lake Mburo National Park can never be as amazing without embarking on cultural visits in the local communities. These visits are not just fun but educative and unveil another dimension of life setting unique and different aspect from the one you are used to as a tourist. It should be noted that the boarders of Lake Mburo National Park are settlement areas of the Banyankore and Bahima communities.  Initially, the land in which Lake Mburo stretches through was a tribal land for the Banyankore and Bahima before it was gazetted and on your visit in these communities you will witness their rich cultural Heritage and cultural Activities.

A visit to these communities allows to enjoy the various culture norms which are demonstrated through dance and drama. The famous cultural dance Ekitaguriro is the most amazing and interesting aspect of these communities.

However, since the Banyankore and Bahima generally are livestock keepers, they do have cultural activities that you will explore like.

  • Okukama (Milking the cow using hands)
  • Okweyera n’okwarira ekihongore ky’enyena (preparing the Calf’s pen)
  • Ekicunga (Using handmade ceramic)
  • Okurunga eshabwe (preparing the traditional sauce made from cow ghee traditionally without fire) E.T.C
