OVERVIEW.
The cultural tour takes you to the far north of Uganda to give you the unforgettable experience of interacting with the Karamojong tribe inhabiting this region, a unique tribe with very authentic African culture. You will also participate in the amazing game drive in Kidepo National Park; one of Africa’s last great wilderness areas- a tract of rugged savannah landscape dominated by Mount Morungole and cut by the Kidepo and Narus rivers making Kidepo an oasis in the semi desert.
ITINERARY
DAY 1: Travel to Kidepo Valley National Park via Gulu.
Wake up early, have breakfast and be ready to meet our guide at an agreed time, fasten your seatbelts and be ready for an adventure as this day is basically for driving. We drive Northwards via Gulu to the land of the pastoralist Karamojong natives, arriving in the evening. The journey takes about 11-12 hours. This means the journey is really exhausting yet adventurous hence gives you an opportunity to have a stop over at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a refreshment and also a chance to see rhinos. Then we shall proceed to the park where you will freshen up from the long journey, rest and prepare for what really adventure is.
DAY 2: Game drive in Kidepo Valley.
Wake up to a delicious breakfast and embark on your game drive to Kidepo National Park. This drive is in the Narus valley and there will be an anticipation of seeing herds of buffalos, zebras, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and cheetahs. You will enjoy a slow drive and can be sure to have your photography moments and have stops at any moments you please. You will then have your refreshment moment as you prepare to go back to the Lodge for an overnight stay and some reminiscing.
DAY 3: Game drive and Cultural Tour in Kidepo Valley.
You will enjoy your breakfast as you admire the true wilderness and an out of the world experience. You will set out for another game drive in the open Savannah, rocky outcrops, forests and mountains. You will be driven to Kanangorok Hot springs for some photography moments to keep your memories alive and a chance to catch more wildlife especially Lions sitting on the rocks as they scan the park for possible prey.
After you have had Lunch and refreshed, relaxed your body, you will be taken on a guided cultural village tour where you will have a truly remarkable experience. The Karamojong culture is still pure and totally unique from other tribes in Uganda as they have rejected civilization and still live in ancient times of nomadic Pastoralism. You will be able to identify their relatively unique way of dressing, cooking, dancing and other daily activities. A visit to the Karamojong is a truly rewarding experience you should look forward to. Then, later you shall head back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight.
DAY 4: Game drive and Transfer to Kampala
Since, you now know that the journey is really long. You will wake up very early in the morning to meet the driver who will transfer you back to Kampala. Be sure that every day there is a new site to be excited about, even on your transit to Kampala, you will see amazing sceneries, capture moments, have amazing street food, and be sure to have your moment and stop for pictures at any moment you please, Lunch will still be enroute as this drive exposes you to the famous Ugandan street foods in those areas.
