Kidepo Valley National Park – Uganda’s Hidden Wilderness Gem

Itinerary: 

Day 1: Arrival & Evening Game Drive

  • Depart from Entebbe/Kampala (flight or drive).
  • If flying, take a domestic flight to Apoka Airstrip (~2 hours).
  • If driving, start early (9-12 hours via Gulu-Kitgum).
  • Check in at your lodge (Apoka Safari Lodge, Kidepo Savannah Lodge, or UWA Bandas).
  • Lunch and relaxation.
  • Short game drive in Narus Valley, a great spot to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, and giraffes.
  • Enjoy a sundowner with scenic views.
  • Dinner & Overnight: At your lodge.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive & Hot Springs

  • Sunrise game drive in Narus Valley, tracking big cats (lions, cheetahs, leopards), elephants, and large buffalo herds.
  • Breakfast picnic in the bush.
  • Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation by the pool or lounge.
  • Drive to Kanangorok Hot Springs, located near the South Sudan border. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
  • Spot ostriches and other unique wildlife on the way.
  • Relax at the lodge with a campfire under the stars.

Day 3: Cultural Experience & Hiking

  • Visit a Karamojong Manyatta (homestead) and learn about their nomadic lifestyle, warrior traditions, and cattle culture.
  • Engage in their traditional dance.
  • Hike to Lomej Hills for panoramic views of the park.
  • Optional: Short nature walk with a ranger guide.
  • Relax at the lodge with storytelling and traditional music.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive & Transfer to Murchison falls National Park

  • One last game drive or birdwatching session.
  • Breakfast and check out.
  • Transfer to Murchison falls through Aruu falls
  • Overnight at the lodge

Day 5: Morning Game drive & Boat Launch

  • Early morning game drive through the central circuit
  • Boat launch to the boat of the falls
  • Evening game drive
  • Overnight at the guest Lodge

Day 6: Top of the Falls, ziwa Rhinos and transfer back to Kampala

  • After breakfast, check out of the hotel
  • Visit the top of falls
  • Transfer to Ziwa Rhinos for Rhino Tracking
  • Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe for an Overnight

Day 7: Kampala City Tour and transfer to Entebbe International Airport

  • Kampala city Tour
  • Souvenir shopping
  • Transfer to Entebbe for departure
