Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala – Mbale – Budadiri (Base Camp)
You will be picked up by our driver briefed on the itinerary and then you start your journey from Kampala to Mbale approximately 5–6 hours from Kampala to budadiri
you will have Lunch en route in Mbale.
Chek into the guest lodge for Overnight
Day 2: Budadiri – Sasa River Camp (2,900m)
After breakfast, you will go to the trekking offices for briefing and assignment of porters and there you will Begin trekking through the community then climb a steep stair trail known as the “Wall of Death”.
you will Hike through the montane forest, home to colobus monkeys and rich birdlife.
And this will take you 5–6 hours and Overnight: Sasa River Camp (camping)
Day 3: Sasa Camp – Mude Cave Camp (3,500m)
You will have early morning breakfast then you prepare to Trek into the Afro-alpine zone: giant lobelias, everlasting flowers, and scenic views of peaks.
Cross scenic moorland and possibly see duikers or rock hyrax. depending on your speed, it will take a maximum of4–5 hours
Set camp at Mude Caves Camp, historically used by local warriors.
Acclimatization hike optional in afternoon.
Day 4: Mude Camp – Wagagai Peak (4,321m) – Return to Mude Camp
Summit day! Early start (6 AM).
Excited? you start your hike to Wagagai Peak, the highest point of Mt Elgon.
you will Pass through Jackson’s Pool and possibly spot Lammergeier (bearded vulture).
And you will be able to view the caldera with its scenic views, and this will take you 7–8 hours depending on your speed
When you get to the Peak, you will have an opportunity to take pictures, have a break and descend back to Mude Camp for overnight.
Day 5: Mude Camp – Budadiri – Kampala
After breakfast, you will descend out of the park and go back to the offices to be awarded with Certificates of completion via Sasa Trail
Then set for return journey to Kampala.
