5-Day Muhavura, Sabyinyo & Mgahinga Hiking Itinerary
Itinerary:
DAY 1: Transfer to Kisoro
Depending on your Arrival time, you will have a transfer from Kampala / Entebbe with a Scenic drive through Kabale highlands and continue to Kisoro at the base of the Virunga ranges. Check in to the guest lodge and relax, prepare for the Hike the following day
Overnight stay near the park
DAY 2: Hike Mt. Sabyinyo (3,669m)
After Early breakfast & transfer to Ntebeko Visitor Centre for Park briefing by UWA rangers
Her you will be entertained by the communities through perormances and later Begin hike through the Bamboo Forest, Hagenia woodland and the Afro-alpine vegetation
Expect to use Ladders & steep ridges at your pace and then you will get to the Summit which is at the meeting point of Uganda, Rwanda & DR Congo
Hike duration: 7–8 hrs
Overnight stay at lodge
DAY 3: Hike Mt. Muhavura (4,127m)
You will have an Early start after breakfast with Gradual ascent through forest zones into alpine terrain. On the trail you will be able to see the nearby congo border and towns
At the summit you will have Crater Lake views, Clear views of Mt. Gahinga, Mt. Sabyinyo and Mt. Bisoke
Hike duration: 8–9 hrs
Overnight stay
DAY 4: Hike Mt. Gahinga (3,474m)
In the Morning, you will be transferred to trailhead. This is the shortest mountain of the 3. If you are luck, you might chance gorilla families feeding and also silver monkeys
Expect to Hike through bamboo vegetation where you will see Giant lobelias, Volcanic crater swamp at summit
Hike duration: 5–6 hrs
Return to lodge
DAY 5: Return to Kampala / Entebbe
After Morning breakfast, you will check out of the guest lodge and Begin your return journey to Kampala/Entebbe and according to your flight schedule, you will be dropped at the end of the trip
