15-Day Rwenzori Margherita Peak + Gorilla Trekking Itinerary<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Itinerary:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

DAY 1: Arrival \u2013 Entebbe<\/b><\/p>\n

On Arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will meet & greet with our driver guide\/representative who will welcome you and brief you about the adventure and then transfer you to the arranged guest lodge<\/p>\n

Overnight stay<\/p>\n

DAY 2: Transfer to Kasese<\/b><\/p>\n

After breakfast, you will check and you will be picked by our diver who will transfer you to the west and a stopover will be made in Fort Portal for a lunch break. You will go through Scenic tea estates & crater lakes<\/p>\n

Overnight at the guest lodge<\/p>\n

DAY 3: Trek Start \u2013 Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut (2,650m)<\/b><\/p>\n

After breakfast, you will go to the headquarters for Park briefing and after that, your hiking will commence. You will trek through montane forest, Cross Mahoma River and also have a lunch break, at your pace, you will make it to the Nyabitaba Hut<\/p>\n

DAY 4: Nyabitaba to John Matte Hut (3,505m)<\/b><\/p>\n

After morning breakfast, you will embark on yet another day of trekking towards John Matte Hut. You will cross Kurt Shafer Bridge, through Bamboo zone \u2192 Heather zone. The scenic vegetation along the trek changes as you head to different altitudes, you will not miss on ever flowing rivers and water falls sites. On arrival, you will have a warm tea and rest<\/p>\n

DAY 5: John Matte to Bujuku Hut (3,962m)<\/b><\/p>\n

Another day to trek across Bujuku bog. One should be equipped with gumboots inorder to srvive the bog. But its another experience to walk in the bogs. You will have Views of Mt Stanley & Mt Baker<\/p>\n

Overnight: Bujuku Hut<\/p>\n

DAY 6: Acclimatization Day \u2013 Bujuku<\/b><\/p>\n

You will have a full day of Rest + short hikes to help you acclimatize and prepare for the summit days. You will be able to Explore Lake Bujuku which give you a critical altitude adjustment<\/p>\n

Overnight at Bujuuku Hut<\/p>\n

DAY 7: Bujuku to Elena Hut (4,541m)<\/b><\/p>\n

After Morning Breakfast, you will embark on yet another day of a Steep climb via Scott Elliot Pass. Here, you enter alpine\/glacial zone, rock climbing where needed will apply, so garden glove might be of help<\/p>\n

DAY 8: Summit Margherita Peak (5,109m) \u2013 Descend to Kitandara<\/b><\/p>\n

At Midnight, you will wake-up and prepare to start your hike to the summit.<\/p>\n

You will start Glacier crossing with ropes and harnesses and you will be led to the Margherita Peak. You will have a moment of pictures and later descend back Kitandara Hut<\/p>\n

10\u201314 hr round trek<\/p>\n

Overnight: Kitandara<\/p>\n

DAY 9: Kitandara to Guy Yeoman Hut (3,261m)<\/b><\/p>\n

After a morning Tea, you embark on the descend and Pass Freshfield until Guy yeoman Hut<\/p>\n

Overnight: Guy Yeoman Hut<\/p>\n

DAY 10: Descend to Nyabitaba<\/b><\/p>\n

After breakfast, you will Trek via Kichuchu to Nyabitaba Hut<\/p>\n

Overnight: Nyabitaba Hut<\/p>\n

DAY 11: Exit Mountains \u2013 Transfer to Bwindi<\/b><\/p>\n

Prepare for the last descend out of the mountain\/park to Nyakalengija<\/p>\n

After receiving your certificate, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which is about 4hrs away<\/p>\n

Overnight at the guest lodge<\/p>\n

DAY 12: Batwa Cultural Experience<\/b><\/p>\n

This will be more of a resting day which will see you Visit Batwa community later in the evening for Traditional Forest survival demo and Cultural dance & storytelling<\/p>\n

DAY 13: Gorilla Trekking Experience<\/b><\/p>\n

After Morning Breakfast, you will be packed for a lunch pack which you will carry or you trekking. You will then be transferred to the UWA headquarters for a briefing, while at it, a batwa community will entertain you. After the briefing, you will embark on one of the most life time achievements,trekking gorillas.<\/p>\n

Depending on the location of the gorilla groups, once you get to them you will have 1 magical hour with the family. To take pictures and videos, then retreat back after the experience. Midway you will camp somewhere and have a lunch break, before you return to the headquarters to receive your certificates of completion. After that you will be taken back to the guest lodge<\/p>\n

DAY 14: Return to Entebbe\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

After morning breakfast, you will check out and be transferred back to Entebbe\/Kampala. A stopover will be made in kayabwe at the equator for a lunch break and also souvenirs. Then proceed to Kampala\/Entebbe. On arrival, check into he guest lodge and rest, enjoy the rest of the evening<\/p>\n

DAY 15: Departure<\/b><\/p>\n

You will have a full day to relax, and wait for your flight as scheduled. You can choose to stay at the guest lodge and relax, do a city tour or go the zoo<\/p>\n
